For Schools, Social Service Agencies & Community Groups
We've designed an inspiring, hands-on, and fun experience. It is a chance for your group to see people with differing abilities working and even owning a business. They can learn about warehouse work and work in a retail store. We want every visitor to leave knowing that their own strengths and skills can lead to a job, or one day, a business of their own.
The tour is designed for students and clients who have completed ninth grade.
The Experience
John Cronin leads every tour personally. We only schedule tours for times when John is available, so your group is guaranteed to meet him.
- Welcome and introductions with John
- Screening of a short overview video
- A guided tour of our fulfillment operation
- A guided tour of our retail store
- A screening of the award-winning documentary short, “Sock Guys”
- Questions and answers with John
- The chance to take photos or shoot video with John
- A swag bag and a discount for every attendee to use in the store
Good to Know
- The full visit takes approximately 45 minutes.
- There is no cost to attend; the tour is free.
- Our entrance has a ramp for wheelchair access, and our restrooms are handicap-accessible.
- If anyone needs a break, we can provide a quiet space away from the group.
What We Hope Everyone Takes Away
- People with differing abilities can be seen working and owning a business because seeing it makes it feel possible.
- Real examples of the kinds of jobs and day-to-day tasks that exist in warehouses and retail stores.
- A reminder that everyone has strengths and skills that can grow into a job, or even a business.
- A fun, memorable, and entertaining afternoon.
Scheduling a Tour
We host tours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Request a tour by sending an email to service@wahooomarket.com.
Provide the following information: Name of your organization, the contact person and contact information, and when you would like to take a tour.
What We Ask of You
To give your group the best possible experience, here's what we need from you before and during your visit.
Group Size
We have a hard limit of 10 people total per visit; this includes teachers, aides, chaperones, students, and self-advocates. We are not able to accommodate more than 10 people at a time.
We have found that the tour is most beneficial for older students, so we ask that attendees be in the 10th grade or older.
Staying Together
Everyone in the group must stay together throughout the visit. No one should wander off on their own.
We understand some attendees may have a hard time sitting still or staying quiet, we simply ask that teachers, aides, and chaperones monitor and support them as needed. This includes not touching our employees, our inventory, or our computers and equipment.
Before Your Visit, We Will Ask You to Tell Us
- The total number of attendees
- How many are teachers, aides or chaperones, and how many are students or clients
- The ages of the students or clients attending
- The name, cell phone number, and email of whoever will be in charge the day of your visit
- Provide a completed release form for each attendee (we'll email you the form after booking)
Scheduling
We'll agree on a scheduled visit time together, and we'll confirm it with you two business days in advance.
If your group will be more than 10 minutes late, please give us a courtesy call. If the arrival is much later, we may need to reschedule.
When You Arrive
Ask for John at the door and he will personally welcome your group and bring everyone into our conference room, which serves as home base for the visit.
